Icons
Hexaemeron -

A 501c(3) not-for-profit organization that specializes in presenting courses in icon-painting from the perspective of traditional Orthodox Church iconography, according to the ancient technique and medium of egg-tempera, using classic prototypes of theological stature. Prosopon School of Iconology -

Introduces students to the practice and theory of the ancient Christian art of icon-writing in the Byzantine-Russian tradition. Apprenticeship in this discipline of the hand, mind, and heart can lead beyond technical competence; the method of study promotes the incarnation of the principles of the painting experience into all aspects of one's life. In accordance with the Orthodox Church’s teaching that Icons are the ‘Gospel in light and color’, the Prosopon School welcomes inquiring students from all backgrounds. The School additionally encourages the search for a more profound experience of icons by means of exhibits, lectures, and the publication of the journal Prosopon.


Monasteries
Holy Cross Monastery -

An English-speaking monastery under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in the Diocese of Eastern America & New York. The abbot and confessor of the monastery is Archimandrite Seraphim. Holy Cross is a growing monastery consisting of more than two dozen monks, novices, candidates and layworkers, many of whom are converts to the Orthodox Faith. The monastery community is comprised of both seasoned monks, who have lived very full monastic lives for decades, and many younger monks who have brought to the monastery a youthful vigor and energy. The average age of the monks at the Hermitage is 39. Holy Cross Monastery is located on 180 acres of land in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia. The surrounding hills and forests provide the monastery with seclusion from the distractions and temptations of the world, as well as a daily reminder of the beauty of God’s creation. These two aspects of our physical setting help to lead us to prayer.


Monastery of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk -

Founded by Archimandrite Arseny (Chagovtsov) with the blessing of then Bishop of North America, later Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, Confessor of Orthodoxy, St. Tikhon (Belavin), in 1905 in South Canaan, Pennsylvania. It was dedicated to the saintly patronage of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk, the heavenly patron of Bishop Tikhon. It is the oldest operating Orthodox monastery in North America. Attached to it is St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary, one of the three seminaries of the Orthodox Church in America.


Saints Mary and Martha Monastery, Wagener, SC -

Saints Mary and Martha Monastery was founded in 1989 under the auspices of His Eminence, Archbishop Dmitri, Bishop of Dallas and the South, Orthodox Church in America (OCA). It has been located in Wagener, South Carolina since June 1996, and is located on a sixty acre parcel of land, which is about 30 miles southwest of Columbia.
