By the grace of God, Holy Resurrection Orthodox Mission in North Augusta, South Carolina, has been blessed with another seminarian!
Sergius Lopez, our parishioner of over three years and mission council secretary, is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity (MDiv) at Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. His goal is to serve Christ’s Church as an ordained priest. In pursuit of this goal, he and his wife moved their family to Yonkers, New York. This will allow Sergius to receive both theological education and ministerial training. Ultimately, he hopes to serve in the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of the South, under His Eminence Archbishop Alexander (Golitzin).
Sergius will graduate from the SVOTS MDiv program in the spring of 2026. Until then, his young family needs our personal prayers and financial support. As a full-time seminarian at SVOTS, he is expected to attend daily services and weekly classes, while also participating in community service. These mandatory commitments preclude him from seeking any gainful employment. Furthermore, his wife Ruth is fully-occupied with rearing their three children, all of whom are under the age of three as they begin their seminary journey! Nevertheless, they trust that the family has intercessors before Christ, asking Him to strengthen them in joy, as they struggle to complete their journey through seminary. They strongly believe that Christ will provide for their material needs while at SVOTS through the compassionate generosity of others.
Holy Resurrection Orthodox Mission is thankful for the opportunity to support Sergius and his young family. We invite everyone to bless the Lopez family as they are able. Please remember that your donation to support them is tax deductible. Thank you considering their situation. We give thanks to Jesus Christ for all those who remember them.
Glory to God for all things!
