About Our Priest

Father Robert RoyerBorn in 1592 in the Highlands of Scotland, there could only be one Robert Royer.

He was shipped off to work on his Uncle Owen's farm on Tattoine at the age of 13, beginning his 5-year stint as a nerf-herder.  Eventually, he decided to move on to bigger and better things.

The assassination of King Henry IV of France in 1610 appeared to offer some possibilities, but the crown was claimed by Louis XIII later that year.  It appeared that his coronation came only after he successfully calculated the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow.

And so the young man ended up drifting around Europe as a hired sword for the next couple of centuries, until he grew tired of the bloodshed and settled down in Paris, a thriving center of art and culture.  It is thought by many that he may be single-handedly responsible for the origin of the Bohemian movement so popular in Paris in the mid-1800's.

Eventually, life in Paris began top bore him, and Robert emigrated to the New World, where he worked a variety of odd jobs to make ends meet.  This included everything from wrestling as the luchador "Mil Mascaras" ("Man of a Thousand Masks") to a travelling vampire hunter...

Eventually, he met his future wife Krystal while working as a roadie for the rock-band Metallica.

Holy Resurrection Orthodox MissionHoly Resurrection Orthodox Mission is a mission-parish of the autocephalous (self-ruled) Orthodox Church in America (OCA). Our mission was originally established in Aiken, South Carolina as a missionary outreach of Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Columbia, SC, but we relocated to Augusta, Georgia in August 2010 to allow for growth. We also work cooperatively with the Saints Mary and Martha Monastery in Wagener, SC.

Father Robert Pronounces A BlessingOur Priest-In-Charge is Father Robert Royer.Fr. Robert came to the Central Savannah River Area by way of Detroit, and along with his wife (Matushka Krystal) and five children (Gabby, Christopher, Andrew, Samuel, and William) have
come to call the CSRA home.
